Drexel Hill Middle School Overview
Drexel Hill Middle School, located in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, was originally established in 1954 as Drexel Hill Junior High School. In 1980, the school was renamed Drexel Hill Middle School to reflect a shift in philosophy that embraced a student-centered, middle-level educational model. Today, the school proudly serves the communities of Clifton Heights, Drexel Hill, and Upper Darby as part of the Upper Darby School District.
Since transitioning to the middle school structure, Drexel Hill Middle School has built a strong reputation for providing developmentally appropriate and academically challenging programs that support students in grades 6 through 8. The school emphasizes a learning environment rooted in its core values: dreaming is encouraged, honor is expected, motivation is celebrated, and scholarship is achieved. These principles guide both staff and students in creating a respectful and dynamic school culture.
Over the years, Drexel Hill Middle School has grown and adapted to meet the needs of its diverse student body. Students have opportunities to explore a wide range of enrichment areas and extracurricular activities, including award-winning music programs, interscholastic sports, and a variety of clubs and intramural offerings. Teachers and students work together to build meaningful relationships that foster growth, creativity, and personal development.
As part of the Upper Darby School District—established in 1839—Drexel Hill Middle School continues to carry forward a tradition of excellence, community engagement, and commitment to student success.
