The DHMS jazz band made history as the first middle school ensemble in Upper Darby to perform at the PMEA State Conference and Festival. The group was accepted after submitting an audition video last year. The group, which is made up of 31 students in grades 6-8 traveled to the Kalahari convention center. They played a fantastic set that ended with a standing ovation from the audience. The students got to spend some time walking around the convention where they got to hear other ensembles and visit the different vendor booths. There were numerous comments by educators from all over the state about not only how well they played, but also how polite and well behaved they were. They were treated to lunch at Chili's on the way home.
It was an amazing day of music and showed off the fantastic students of DHMS! This capped off another successful season of all Superior ratings by the jazz band.
